How Much Does Weight Loss Medication Cost in Illinois? (2026)
The total cost of medical weight loss in Illinois has two parts: the physician care that decides whether treatment is right for you, and the medication itself. This guide separates the two so you can see what you would actually pay.
What You Pay TeleSlim Clinic
TeleSlim Clinic visits are self-pay, and we do not bill insurance for our own services. We do handle prior authorization for your medication, provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, and send your medication and lab orders to the pharmacy or lab you choose, where your insurance can be used. Every visit is with a board-certified obesity medicine physician by secure video.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Initial consultation (45 minutes) | $99 for a limited time (regularly $199) |
| Monthly plan | $99 / month |
| 3-month plan | $269 (about $90 / month) |
| 6-month plan | $499 (about $83 / month) |
| Annual plan | $899 (about $75 / month) |
| Optional genetic testing (at-home saliva test) | $499 |
Every plan includes monthly follow-ups with your physician and personalized prescriptions, when medically appropriate, sent to your pharmacy.
What the Medication Itself Costs
The medication is filled at a pharmacy and is priced separately from your TeleSlim plan. The price depends on which medication you are prescribed, the dose, the form (pill or injection), and where you fill it.
For reference, as of early October 2026 the manufacturers’ own self-pay programs have advertised roughly the following. These are not TeleSlim prices, they change often, and you should confirm them directly:
- Wegovy (semaglutide): about $149–$299 per month for the pill depending on dose, and about $349 per month for the weekly injection, with a lower introductory price for some new patients. See NovoCare (https://www.novocare.com/).
- Zepbound (tirzepatide) vials: roughly $299–$449 per month depending on dose. See LillyDirect (https://lillydirect.lilly.com/).
Other FDA-approved options, including phentermine-topiramate, naltrexone-bupropion, and orlistat, are priced by the pharmacy. Your physician can talk through the cost of each option with you.
Why Prices Vary
- Medication and dose. Higher doses are often priced higher.
- Pill or injection. The two forms are priced differently.
- Program or pharmacy. Manufacturer programs and retail pharmacies set their own prices.
- Timing. Introductory offers and program rules change.
Ways to Keep Your Total Cost Down
- Choose a longer TeleSlim plan: the annual plan works out to about $75 a month for physician care, versus $99 on the monthly plan.
- Ask your physician whether a lower-cost option could be appropriate for you.
- If you have an HSA or FSA, see our guide to using an HSA or FSA for weight loss treatment.
